Botany is a branch of biology that involves the scientific study of plant life

botanicals is inspired by the botany of plants, encompassing Japanese traditional art forms & touching on the art of Apothecary. The stationery is made by hand in a series of twelve limited edition artist printed covers of botanical illustrations. The range consists of journals, notebooks, postcards & botanical bottles, which feature Japanese Haiku seasonal poems. Whether you are an avid collector of bottles, plant specimens, flowers or enjoy roaming gardens for treasures – botanicals encourages us to appreciate the beauty & science of nature.

january didn’t pass by without a project to keep us busy

The Sketchbook Project is a constantly evolving library of artists’ sketchbooks from across the globe, brought to you by the Art House Co-op.

and we couldn’t resist to get involved & get our hands on a blank sketchbook.
our chosen theme was stitches & folds so there was lots of room to play with paper (our favourite lil past time).
sticking with our botanicals story, the pages are filled with illustrations, collages, threads & folded paper – a few pics of the final pages are below.

all sketchbooks will be catalogued in the Brooklyn Arts Library (in New York) as well as tour our around the world in April, eventually landing on our shores in November at a exhibition in Melbourne. we can’t wait to see the books up close.

It seems like a fine day for starting a garden for the new year…

not that we have a lot of room at looseleaf HQ but I’ve been inspired by little gardens
especially in places you would not expect to see them
like in cities - Tokyo is full of mini sidewalk gardens!
off to the nursery we go…
